Fourth Sunday of Advent
Alleluia, the Christ child comes,
And we await his birth.
Let us throw off our distractions,
And allow the chaos to settle.
Let us watch for the signs,
And listen to the messengers.
Let us stand on tiptoe,
And shout aloud and sing.
Something new is emerging, something new is being birthed.

As previously announced, the Catholic Committee of the South and the AUSCP are very excited about Pope Francis’ efforts to create a path to synodality. We are aware that there are groups currently disaffiliated from the Church who need to be involved in any process that hopes to succeed. To that end, we have joined together to ensure a path for groups and individuals who might otherwise not have a voice in the synodality process.
If you wish to host a local cluster of “The Gathering: Toward a Synodal Church," contact Project Coordinator: Cathy Harmon-Christian at:
We recall that the purpose of the Synod, and therefore of this consultation, is not to produce documents, but “to plant dreams, draw forth prophesies and visions, allow hope to flourish, inspire trust, bind up wounds, weave together relationships, awaken a dawn of hope, learn from one another and create a bright resourcefulness that will enlighten minds, warm hearts, give strength to our hands.”
Prophetic Resistance Podcasts
Prophetic Resistance podcasts are hosted by Rev. Michael-Ray Mathews. Grounded in diverse faith traditions, the podcasts are exploring what it means to embody love in the face of fear, to show up like hope in seasons of despair, to stand ready to be light in the darkness and water in a parched land. In each episode, there is an opportunity to learn from the stories, traditions, and wisdom of our beloved community of freedom-fighters, justice-seekers, and faith leaders. The podcasts are
investigating how – in this moment – leaders of faith and moral courage can cultivate prophetic resistance rooted in revolutionary love. You can access these podcasts HERE.
