A Prayer for Pentecost

May the Gifts of the Holy Spirit bring fire to the earth so that the presence of God may be seen in a new light, in new places, in new ways.

May our own hearts burst into flame so that no obstacle,
no matter how great,
ever obstructs the message
of the God within each of us.

May we come to trust
the Word of God in our heart,
to speak it with courage,
to follow it faithfully
and to fan it to flame in others.

...Give me, Great God, a sense of the Breath of Spirit within me as I...
(State the intention
in your own life at this time

for which you are praying.)

2018 Assembly in Albuquerque is drawing near!

The 2018 AUSCP Assembly is getting close. If you haven't signed up yet, please do so ASAP. Don't miss the wonderful camaraderie and the excellent speakers!  Scroll down for details on this year's gathering.

What do past Assembly attendees say about the AUSCP Assembly?

  • The annual assembly is key to gathering priests for support and sharing ideas and activity; priests have a voice of our own; meet some great men I would never have encountered.
  • Provides a meeting with other priests "on fire" for the gospel; a chance to share and interact with those priests.

Don't miss this excellent opportunity! Register NOW!

Archbishop Gregory Addresses the Roman Missal

The May 1st edition of America Magazine carried an article by Michael O'Laughlin in which Archbishop Wilton Gregory said, "The time is right to review mass translations." He said that controversial changes to liturgical translations that have been fully implemented in Catholic parishes since 2011 may need to be revisited to fix “problematic” sections that fail to “bring the entire church together.”

Gregory recalled that when the translations were accepted in 2009, there was an understanding that after a period of time they would be reviewed. "Let's have a review," he said. To read the article, click HERE.

Youth Synod Report Well Accepted

Cardinal DiNardo, President of the USCCB, sent a letter of thanks to the members of the AUSCP for sending him the results of the research done for the Youth Synod. He said, "I am grateful for your contribution to the effort to prepare for the Synod in October. Please know that I have conveyed the report to the USCCB Secretariats for Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth; and the Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations to inform staff as they prepare to assist the US bishops participating in the synod."

Special thanks to all of you who responded to the Youth Synod SurveyMonkey questionnaire that was sent out in February. The report is available on the AUSCP website: AUSCP - HOME

Justice for Immigrants - Action Alert!

Ask Your Representatives to Protect Dreamers by (1) Supporting H.R. 4796, the USA Act of 2018, and H.R. 3440, the DREAM Act of 2017; AND (2) Moving Legislation Forward to a Vote in the House.

Without a legislative solution, Dreamers' futures remain uncertain and they live in fear of deportation. Congress should take urgent action to protect these extraordinary young people. The U.S. Bishops support both the Dream Act and the USA Act.

  Take Action!

Murder of Priests

A growing number of priests have been murdered in recent years, with the highest number being in Mexico. In April, four priests were found dead (three murdered and one by a supposed accident) in less than a week. In the last six years, 24 (or 25) have been murdered in Mexico, which is now considered the most dangerous place to be a priest.

The AUSCP Leadership Team recently sent a letter of solidarity and support to the Conference of Mexican Bishops. It said, in part: (Sent in Spanish.) "Please share with the priests of Mexico that we stand with them and that they are in our prayers. If there are specific ways that our 1200 member priests here in the United States can be helpful in bringing an end to this troubling situation, please do let me know. Our Association will be more than happy to engage our members and friends in meaningful action here."

A press release was issued to bring attention to this. You can access the press release on the AUSCP website:
