God rises up at the heart of cosmic evolution through the power of love, which science and technology can facilitate but not surpass. The future of the earth, therefore, lies not in science and technology, but in the spiritual power of world religions and the power of love. We are born our of love, we exist in love, and we are destined for eternal love...It is time to reinvent ourselves in love.

Goal on Clericalism
When the 2018 Proposals were sent out there was an omission of one of the Goals, the one on Clericalism. See below. If you have comments you wish to share and cannot be at the Assembly, you can contact one of the authors of the proposal.
TITLE: Prepare for dissemination an AUSCP "white paper" addressing the problem of CLERICALISM.
RATIONALE: Voices during Vatican II identified Clericalism as major problem in the Church. Pope Francis considers it a serious enough problem still that he frequently speaks about it. A well-done AUSCP white paper dealing with the problem as it manifests itself in our national presbyterate can be a positive and constructive contribution to efforts to diminish and hopefully banish clericalism within the Church in the United States. A Working Group will be established to write the document over the coming year for presentation to AUSCP’s 2019 Assembly.

Imigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) Sting Operations
On Tuesday, June 5, 200 ICE agents conducted a raid at Corso's Flower & Garden Centers in Sandusky and Castalia, Ohio. They used 200 agents, some with assault rifles and dogs, and took 114 people into custody. Some were US citizens, but all hispanics were cuffed and taken to jail until they could prove their status This is the largest ICE sting in a decade. Those taken into custody were treated like criminals. Many children were lefted stranded at daycare centers, etc., not knowing what happened. Some children have been left without parents to care for them.
You can access a Toledo Blade article about this HERE. The article features AUSCP member Tony Gallagher at the podium, speaking on behalf of justice for immigrant families.
"A Story" by AUSCP member Jim Flynn, has been posted on the AUSCP website: http://www.uscatholicpriests.org/immigration/
In response, please call your senators and representatives (Capitol Switchboard: 202-224-3121) to call for a stop to ICE raids on those who have not exhibited criminal behavior and to stop the practice of separating children from their parents. On average, 46-48 children per day are being separated from their parents at the border, no matter how young.
Insist on the need for comprehensive immigration legislation that would provide a path to citizenship for the undocumented, especially the dreamers. Congress might vote on immigration bills this week, so your voice is needed.
