AUSCP 2018 Assembly

Eagle Dance at outdoor Mass

Quote from an Exhibitor:

Richard and I both wanted to express our appreciation for the gracious hospitality you and your brother priests extended us. We are always delighted to represent Creator Mundi in the role of exhibitors; we were not expecting the warm, disarming reception of this group. Please convey our gratitude to all. Truly it was a privilege to make the acquaintance of so many clergy who have lived out their lives as Imageo Deo and created such goodness and light in the world.

Gracias, Sheila Norris of Creator Mundi, Exhibitor

Reclaiming Jesus:

A Confession of Faith in a Time of Crisis

A recently released document, "Reclaiming Jesus," was mentioned by Richard Rohr, OFM, one of the speakers at the 2018 Assembly. The document has been signed by several Bishops, along with Richard Rohr, Walter Brueggeman, Jim Wallis, and others. Below are quotes from the document and a link to a one-page summary of the document. You are invited to read it and see if you wish to answer the call to support it.

  • It is time to be followers of Jesus before anything else - nationality, political party, race, ethnicity, gender, geography. Our identity in Christ precedes every other identity.
  • We believe it is time to speak and to act in faith and conscience, not because of politics, but because we are disciples of Jesus Christ—to whom be all authority, honor, and glory.

Catholic Mobilizing Network

The Catholic Mobilizing Network (CMN) has many resources for the study of the Death Penalty and for working toward its abolition. Their website also has a quick and easy way to send a letter to the governor of the state where the next execution is scheduled. The next execution scheduled is for Billy Ray Irick on August 9th in Tennessee. Please take time to visit the CMN website and send a letter to Gov. Bill Hislam, asking him to commute his sentence to life in prison without parole.
