Pope's 2019 World Day of Peace Message
In the first paragraph of Pope Francis' Peace Message for January 1, 2019, he states: Offering peace is at the heart of the mission of the disciples of Christ. And this offer is addressed to all those men and women who hope for peace amid the tragedies and violence of human history. The "house" mentioned by Jesus is every family, every community, every country, every continent, in their singularity and in their history; it is first of all every person, without distinction or discrimination. It is also our "common home": the planet in which God has placed us to live and of which we are called to take care of ourselves with
So let this be my wish at the beginning of the new year: "Peace to this house!".
The Pope included Beatitudes for politicians in his Peace Message. You can access the entire Peace Message HERE.
Message to U.S. Bishops
The following message was sent in a letter to all of the U.S. bishops to assure them of support from AUSCP during their retreat, January 2-8, 2019:
As you enter into retreat at Mundelein January 2 -8, we, the 1200 priests and 157 lay members of the Association of U.S. Catholic Priests, pledge our personal support through prayer and fasting during that time. Your gathering at Mundelein has special meaning for us because our Association of U.S. Catholic Priests was founded during a Retreat there in 2011. Inspired by the Spirit, our mission is to provide priests "mutual support and a collegial voice through dialogue, contemplation and
prophetic action." We include you as brother priests in that mission.
Please pray for wisdom and enlightment for the bishops during this special time and engage in some form of fasting if you are able.
Invitation from Gospel Nonviolence Working Group
The co-coordinator of Voices for Creative Nonviolence (VCNV) has offered to be the resource person for the next Gospel Nonviolence Zoom conference. Brian Terrell lives and works at Strangers and Guests Catholic Worker Farm in Maloy, Iowa.
Brian's travels include participation in delegations to Palestine,
Iraq, Bahrain, Korea, and Afghanistan. He has spoken in many European venues. In recent years, Brian has been active in resistance to remote controlled murders by drones with friends in Nevada, New York and Missouri. In May 2013, he was released from a six-month federal prison sentence for participating in a peaceable assembly in protest of drones at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. His profile can be found on the website www.vcnv.org.
Mark your calendars, and be ready and willing to challenge Brian's application of nonviolence in word and deed.

Special thanks to the 40 persons who gave online donations on November 27, Giving Tuesday! Unfortunately, we did not get matching funds from PayPal. The 7 million in matching funds were used up within seconds of the 8 AM opening on Giving Tuesday.
However, the good news is that the Annual Appeal has reached $84,259 from 258 donors. We are getting close to our goal!
Our goal for this year's appeal is to receive donations from 350 donors for a grand total of $100,000. This would represent a 40 percent increase over last year's appeal and would enable the AUSCP to move forward with plans to reach every priest in the U.S. with our message of hope and joy.

For the first year there is no fee; in the second year, a fee of $95. If you wish, you can cancel the card before the renewal date. Be sure to look at the conditions. If it makes sense to you, AUSCP's 2019 Assembly will be yours at significantly reduced cost.
